Percent of CRAFFT/SBIRT Screenings Provided in Healthcare Settings

Measurement Period: 2021
The percent of Medicaid/Oregon Health Plan patients who received an age-appropriate screening and brief education or intervention for substance and alcohol use.

This measure was not tracked in 2018.

Why is this important?

SBIRT and CRAFFT are approaches to the delivery of early intervention and treatment to people with substance use disorders and those at risk of developing these disorders.
  • Screening quickly assesses the severity of substance use and identifies the appropriate level of treatment.
  • Brief intervention focuses on increasing insight and awareness regarding substance use and motivation toward behavioral change.
  • Referral to treatment provides those identified as needing more extensive treatment with access to specialty care.
