Hospitalizations include only those where the indicated condition was the primary diagnosis. Rates are based on the number of hospitalized persons per 100,000 population. Hospitalizations do not include emergency department visits.

Why is this important?

Diabetes is a chronic (long-lasting) health condition that affects how the body turns food into energy.
